Apple Inc has announced plans to invest over $250 million in expanding its regional campus or operations in Ang Mo Kio, Singapore.
The tech giant will upgrade two buildings acquired in 2022, located opposite its existing offices. CEO Tim Cook expressed pride in the strong connection Apple has forged with the vibrant Singaporean community, calling it "truly a one-of-a-kind place." Apple's presence in Singapore dates back to 1981 when it opened its first facility with 72 employees focused on the Apple II personal computer.
Over the years, it has expanded significantly and now accommodates more than 3,600 employees, making Singapore a vital operations center for Apple in the region. As part of his Southeast Asia tour, Cook is set to meet Singapore's prime minister-designate Lawrence Wong and the city-state's incumbent leader Lee Hsien Loong. Bloomberg News reported earlier on Wednesday, citing a source familiar with the matter. This investment underscores Apple's commitment to Singapore and its ongoing efforts to bolster its presence in the region.
