Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business: Bridging Opportunities in India

28 Oct, 2024

Minister of Economic Affairs Robert Habeck officially opened the 18th Asia-Pacific Conference of German Business (APK) in New Delhi on October 25, 2024. This significant event marks an essential gathering of key stakeholders from Germany and the Asia-Pacific region, focusing on fostering business relationships and addressing pressing economic challenges.

During his visit from October 23 to 26, Habeck is also participating in the 8th German-Indian government consultations. He emphasized the critical role India plays in diversifying German business interests and the urgent need to reduce dependencies on other markets. In his discussions with high-ranking Indian officials, Habeck aims to forge agreements that enhance cooperation in business sectors and climate policy, particularly highlighting the importance of green hydrogen initiatives.

Habeck noted, “The Indo-Pacific region is now  most dynamic part of  world. We want to present ourselves as a strong and visible trade partner here.” To facilitate this goal, an Indian-German CEO forum is planned, which will strengthen dialogue between the two governments and promote collaboration between German and Indian businesses.

At the conference, which is co-hosted by Siemens AG Chairman Roland Busch, approximately 800 participants from across the region are expected to engage in discussions centered around sustainability, artificial intelligence (AI), new industrial policies, and economic security. Alongside Habeck, several prominent German officials are visiting India, including Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, Defence Minister Boris Pistorius, Federal Labour Minister Hubertus Heil, and Education Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger. The APK serves as a pivotal platform for addressing current global challenges while reinforcing the economic ties between Germany and India.
