The Brazilian Navy and EDGE Group, a defense and technology company based in Abu Dhabi, have officially partnered to develop advanced anti-drone systems. This strategic agreement was signed during the LAAD Defence & Security 2025 exhibition held in Rio de Janeiro. It marks a significant step forward in Brazil's defense innovation and the two nations' cooperation in developing autonomous security technologies.
A joint working group will be formed, composed of technical experts from both parties, to focus on designing autonomous surface and aerial defense systems. These systems will be equipped with cutting-edge technologies, including advanced radars, electro-optical sensors, and signal jamming features. Their goal is to enhance the Brazilian Navy’s capabilities in detecting, tracking, and neutralizing air and surface threats posed by unmanned systems.
This collaboration builds on an existing relationship between EDGE and the Brazilian Navy, previously demonstrated through the co-development of the MANSUP series of anti-ship systems. With this new initiative, both parties aim to accelerate the deployment of innovative technologies that address modern warfare challenges. The project is expected to position Brazil and the UAE as leaders in counter-drone defense, offering scalable and modular solutions for evolving security needs.
Officials from both the Brazilian Navy and EDGE emphasized the importance of knowledge sharing and joint innovation. They aim to leverage each other’s strengths in missile technology and smart weapon systems to deliver next-generation defense platforms. In addition to the anti-drone partnership, EDGE and its Brazilian subsidiary SIATT signed a license agreement for the MANSUP-ER anti-ship missile, further strengthening their commitment to advancing missile capabilities.
EDGE also entered into a memorandum of understanding with Brazil’s state-owned EMGEPRON to support future cooperation in developing torpedoes, high-precision technologies, and advanced weapons systems, reinforcing the broader defense ties between Brazil and the UAE.
