Brenntag Acquires Two Specialty Distributors in Brazil for Expansion

Brenntag has announced the acquisition of two Brazilian specialty distributors, PIC Quimica e Farmaceutica and PharmaSpecial Especialidades Quimicas e Farmaceuticas. This strategic move significantly enhances Brenntag's presence in Brazil’s burgeoning Life Science sector. PIC and PharmaSpecial, both well-established and family-owned distributors, are prominent in pharma, personal care, and other life science industries. They serve a broad client base, including large customers and national compounding pharmacies.

Founded in 1991 and based in Itapevi, Brazil, the two companies reported sales of approximately €11 million in 2023. While the financial terms of the acquisition remain undisclosed, the deal is expected to finalize in the fourth quarter of 2024, pending standard regulatory approvals.

Torsten Walz, Brenntag's global president of Pharma in the Specialties business unit, highlighted that the acquisition aligns well with Brenntag's global Pharma strategy. The addition of PIC and PharmaSpecial’s extensive supplier network and value-added services is anticipated to bolster Brenntag’s capabilities and regional growth.

This acquisition also provides Brenntag with an entry into the soft gel capsule market and expands its global network of application and innovation centers. Fabio Morais, CEO of PIC and PharmaSpecial, expressed enthusiasm about the growth opportunities this partnership presents, noting that their regional customers will benefit from Brenntag's global expertise and network.
