Singaporean leaders are under immense pressure regarding cybersecurity, surpassing global counterparts. As cyber threats escalate, effective communication between C-suite executives and security officers becomes paramount.
FTI Consulting's study highlights a significant communication gap, with over one-third of Singapore's C-suite executives feeling that cybersecurity risks are not adequately reported. Despite 88% acknowledging cybersecurity as a critical priority, concerns persist. Nevertheless, organizations are taking steps to address these challenges, such as increasing budget allocation for information security, prioritizing cybersecurity on the board's agenda, and enhancing media coverage on cybersecurity and data privacy preparedness.
Executives emphasize the need for improved understanding and response to cybersecurity threats. Notably, there's a shared concern regarding senior leadership's grasp of cybersecurity risks. Eli Serota, head of cybersecurity and data privacy communications in Asia, stresses the importance of bridging this communication gap to safeguard business operations. With remote work exacerbating security risks, clear communication becomes even more crucial. Singaporean leaders face pressure primarily from customers and investors, emphasizing the urgency of effective cybersecurity strategies.
