Chevrolet Brazil Reports a 5% Decline in September 2023 Sale

In September 2023, Chevrolet Brazil witnessed a notable 5% decrease in sales, with 27,959 units sold. Despite this dip, Chevrolet managed to secure its position as the second-best-selling automobile brand in the country, right behind industry leaders Fiat and Volkswagen.

During the initial nine months of the 2023 calendar year, Chevrolet Brazil exhibited resilience, marking a 16% increase in sales, with a total of 236,309 units sold. However, the recent drop in sales during September mirrors the setback experienced in August, resulting in a second consecutive decline for the brand in this South American market. This decline comes after seven consecutive months of consistent growth for Chevrolet in Brazil.

As a result of September's underperformance, Chevrolet slipped from the second to the third spot among the best-selling automobile brands in Brazil, with Volkswagen surpassing them with 29,651 units sold.

The decline in Chevrolet Brazil sales during September was not limited to the brand as a whole; many of the models offered by Chevrolet experienced decreased sales. Notably, the Chevy Onix and Tracker, which are the brand's two best-selling models, witnessed single-digit declines, amounting to a combined reduction of 1,628 units in comparison to the previous year. Despite this, the Onix maintained its status as the most popular vehicle in the Brazilian market, while the Tracker continued to hold the title of the best-selling crossover for the second consecutive month.

However, Chevrolet's all-new model, the Chevy Montana, has emerged as one of the brand's fastest-growing models and one of the speediest risers in the Brazilian automotive market. Nonetheless, the Montana's monthly sales have remained relatively stagnant and have shown a decrease when compared to previous months. On a positive note, the Chevy Equinox managed to buck the trend, finishing the month with noteworthy improvements both in the monthly and year-to-date sales figures.

These fluctuations in Chevrolet Brazil's sales reflect the dynamic nature of the automotive market and consumer preferences. The brand continues to navigate these changes as it aims to maintain its position in the Brazilian automobile landscape.
