DBS Bank’s Deputy CEO, Tan Su Shan, shared insights at the India-Singapore Connect Summit on the deepening economic and business ties between India and Singapore. She emphasized DBS’s long-term commitment to India, highlighting its strong presence in the market with the largest branch network among multinational banks. The discussion covered India's digital transformation, including initiatives like the India Stack, which is enabling seamless transactions and data-driven decision-making for businesses.

Tan Su Shan also shed light on India’s thriving SME sector, noting that a significant portion of DBS’s growth debt fund with Temasek Evolution X has been allocated to India. She pointed out that India’s position in global supply chains is strengthening, particularly with the China-plus-one strategy driving investments in renewable energy, green hydrogen, and biofuels.

The conversation also explored India's startup ecosystem, with DBS actively supporting first-generation entrepreneurs through customized banking solutions and purpose-driven funding via its Foundation. Tan Su Shan stressed that innovative and unconventional banking approaches are necessary to nurture sustainable growth in emerging sectors.

On a broader level, the discussion underscored the importance of strengthening cultural and business ties between India and Singapore. Tan Su Shan highlighted the need to build long-term partnerships rooted in trust and historical trade relations. She reaffirmed DBS’s commitment to India’s future, describing the nation as an "economic outlier" with unmatched growth potential.
