Germany Boosts Support for SMEs in Cooperation with Ukraine

04 Feb, 2025

Germany and Ukraine have renewed and extended their cooperation to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through the "Business Partnership with Germany" programme. The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Yulia Svyrydenko, and the German Ambassador to Ukraine, Martin Jaeger, signed a Joint Declaration to extend this initiative for another three years. This programme aims to facilitate business connections between Ukrainian entrepreneurs and German companies, fostering long-term partnerships, skill development, and international market expansion.

The extended programme, implemented by the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), will offer competitions for Ukrainian SME leaders. Winners will gain access to online training, practical workshops, and business visits to Germany, providing them with valuable insights into global business practices and opportunities to establish direct business contacts.

For over 20 years, Ukraine and Germany have collaborated on SME development, benefiting nearly 1,900 Ukrainian entrepreneurs. These training initiatives have helped Ukrainian businesses integrate international best practices, improve competitiveness, and expand export potential. Amid the ongoing war, this renewed cooperation plays a crucial role in sustaining Ukrainian businesses and contributing to the country’s economic recovery.

The Ministry of Economy of Ukraine acknowledges Germany’s continued support in strengthening Ukrainian entrepreneurship during these challenging times. By leveraging this updated programme, Ukrainian business leaders can enhance their skills, build strategic international partnerships, and drive sustainable business growth.

With Germany's strong commitment to fostering economic collaboration, this initiative will provide Ukrainian SMEs with the necessary tools to succeed in global markets, ensuring long-term business resilience and economic stability. Entrepreneurs are encouraged to participate in this programme to maximize growth opportunities and drive innovation in the Ukrainian business landscape.
