Chinese turbine manufacturer Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology Co., Ltd. has taken a significant stride in its global expansion efforts by acquiring its inaugural overseas wind turbine manufacturing facility in Brazil. In May, the company finalized an agreement with General Electric to acquire the Camacari assembly plant in Bahia state, Brazil. This facility is slated to commence mass production of wind turbines by the end of 2024, a move anticipated to generate over 1,000 jobs locally.
Goldwind's investment in Brazil underscores its confidence in the country's burgeoning wind power market, projected to double by 2030 with investments estimated at 246.5 billion yuan ($34 billion). By leveraging local resources and bolstering supply chains, Goldwind aims to capitalize on Brazil's abundant wind resources.
Having established itself as the world's leading wind turbine supplier, Goldwind commissioned 16.4 gigawatts of projects globally last year, with notable growth in international markets. Despite historically facing challenges against larger global competitors, Chinese wind turbine manufacturers, including Goldwind, have gained traction globally, supported by technological advancements and competitive pricing. This strategic expansion into Brazil marks a pivotal milestone for Goldwind, aligning with its broader international growth strategy across 38 countries worldwide.
Goldwind's presence in Brazil builds upon its track record of successful international projects, including its recent debut in the Philippines. With a growing share of international sales, Goldwind is poised to further strengthen its global footprint in the renewable energy sector, driving sustainable development initiatives worldwide.
