Hamburg and Singapore have signed a significant Joint Workplan Agreement to enhance innovation and internationalization efforts, particularly in transport and logistics. The agreement was formalized during an official visit by Hamburg's First Mayor, Dr. Peter Tschentscher, accompanied by a delegation from business and science. In attendance were key figures such as Singaporean Minister Grace Fu, Dr. Rolf Strittmatter of Hamburg Invest, and Tan Soon Kim from Enterprise Singapore.
This collaboration seeks to strengthen the economic ties between Hamburg and Singapore, two major global players in logistics and trade. The focus is on fostering innovation, technology, and sustainable urban development. Singapore, known for its offshore wind and precision medicine initiatives, and Hamburg aim to support their companies in internationalization and drive innovation projects that benefit both cities.
With over 400 Hamburg-based companies operating in Singapore and numerous Singaporean firms established in Hamburg, the agreement also emphasizes the importance of networking and sharing best practices. It sets the stage for annual business missions and regular meetings to assess progress. Valid for two years with the potential for extension, this agreement marks a significant step towards creating new business opportunities and enhancing collaboration in the Southeast Asian market.
