Ikonisys and BIO BRASIL Expand Cytology Services Partnership in Brazil

Ikonisys (Euronext Growth Paris: ALIKO), renowned for its automated cancer detection solutions, has significantly expanded its partnership with BIO BRASIL BIOTECNOLOGIA LTDA. This collaboration, formalized through a new Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU), aims to enhance diagnostic services in Sao Paulo state. Under the agreement, Ikonisys’ subsidiary Hospitex International will support BIO BRASIL with the acquisition of ten additional Cytofast Plus systems and 50,000 reagent kits, complementing the seven systems already deployed.

The expanded diagnostic infrastructure will address the rising demand for Pap tests and urinary cytology diagnostics. A pilot project will also introduce innovative fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) technology, testing Ikonisys’ advanced solutions for low-grade and atypical squamous cells in Pap tests. This initiative builds on successful evaluations with Sao Paulo City Hall.

BIO BRASIL will manage the new equipment’s integration and operational deployment, including staff training and service promotion. Ikonisys will provide equipment, reagent kits, technical support, and collaborate on R&D. The partnership, effective for two years, aims for a swift initial order completion by the end of 2024.

Sao Paulo, with nearly 8 million women eligible for cervical cancer screening and approximately 20,000 new bladder cancer cases annually, presents a crucial market for enhanced cytology services. The partnership aligns with Ikonisys’ global expansion strategy and BIO BRASIL’s goal of leading Brazil's anatomical pathology sector.
