On May 4, during his visit to Sao Paulo, Brazil, Prime Minister Kishida Fumio attended the "Japan-Brazil Business Forum," an event organized by Japanese and Brazilian business organizations. The forum, lasting approximately 30 minutes, saw the participation of notable figures including H.E. Mr. Geraldo Alckmin, Vice President and Minister of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services of Brazil, alongside government officials and business representatives from both nations.
Key figures such as Mr. Ishiguro Norihiko, Chairman of JETRO, and Mr. Yasunaga Tatsuo, Vice Chair of Keidanren, delivered remarks, emphasizing the significance of bilateral cooperation. This was followed by a ceremony to announce signed MOUs and a photo session.
In his opening speech, Prime Minister Kishida highlighted the potential for collaboration under the "Japan-Brazil Green Partnership Initiative," focusing on sectors like food, energy, and digital technology. He also unveiled plans to bolster trade, investment, and support for Japanese start-ups in Brazil. Moreover, he shared outcomes from the Japan-Brazil summit, including the agreement on the ISFM framework for carbon neutrality, leveraging Brazil's biofuels expertise and Japan's advanced mobility technology.
Vice President Alckmin underscored the historical ties between the two nations, emphasizing the importance of Nikkei communities and encouraging increased Japanese investment, highlighting the significance of people-to-people exchanges.
