SKion Water, a water technology investment company and subsidiary of SKion GmbH, founded by German entrepreneur Susanne Klatten, has successfully acquired a majority stake in Hyderabad-based Sanpure Systems Pvt Ltd. Sanpure Systems is renowned for providing high purity water systems to pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies.
The acquisition deal, estimated to be valued at around $9-10 million, signifies SKion Water's entry into the high purity water and process equipment sector. The CEO of SKion Water, Dr. Reinhard Huebner, confirmed that the company has acquired a 51% stake in the Hyderabad-based firm, with the remaining ownership held by Sanpure founder Basavaraj Nekar.
Sanpure Systems Pvt. Ltd., founded in 2012 by Basavaraj Nekar, is dedicated to offering custom-engineered solutions for pharmaceutical high purity water systems.
Following the acquisition, Sanpure will be integrated into SKion Water, and the German water technology group plans to leverage the synergy between Sanpure and another SKion group company, Paques, to solidify their foothold in the Indian market.
Sanpure stands out due to its in-house electropolishing facility, making it one of the few in India with fully integrated capabilities. The company boasts automated polishing machines capable of delivering high surface finishes consistently and efficiently. With a manufacturing area exceeding 36,000 square feet, Sanpure is well-equipped to provide highly customized process equipment and systems for the development and production of biopharmaceutical products, including vaccines, monoclonal antibodies (mAB), recombinant DNA proteins, blood fractionation, and more. Sanpure serves a range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, bio-pharmaceuticals, API, food and beverages, and semiconductors.
SKion Water, established in 2011 by Susanne Klatten, operates as an international water and wastewater technology solution platform. It is dedicated to delivering reliable and efficient water and wastewater treatment solutions for municipal utilities, industrial facilities, and commercial water users, focusing on the development and implementation of innovative water technologies.
In April of this year, EnviroWater Group, a part of SKion Water, completed the acquisition of 100% of the shares of Schweitzer-Chemie GmbH, a German company specializing in cooling water systems, steam boiler systems, ventilation and air conditioning systems, drinking water installations, and other water-related systems.
