Singapore Airlines Unveils New London Gatwick Route

Singapore Airlines is expanding its flight offerings from the UK by launching a new route from London Gatwick, adding to its existing services from London Heathrow and Manchester to Changi airport. Starting from June 22, 2024, the airline will operate flights between Gatwick and Singapore five times a week, significantly boosting its weekly services between the UK and Singapore to a total of 38 flights.

This move comes as Singapore Airlines aims to broaden its reach and enhance connectivity for travelers, catering to the increasing demand for flights between the UK and Southeast Asia. Mohamed Rafi Mar, the airline's general manager for the UK and Ireland, expressed excitement about the addition of London Gatwick as the airline's third gateway in the UK. This expansion promises passengers more options and convenience when traveling to Southeast Asia and beyond.

The flight schedule for this new route includes departures from Gatwick on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with corresponding flights from Singapore on Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. These flights will be operated using Airbus A350-900 aircraft, offering three cabin classes: economy with 187 seats, premium economy with 24 seats, and business with 42 seats.

Stewart Wingate, the CEO of Gatwick Airport, emphasized the significance of this new route, highlighting the airport's reputation and connectivity. He pointed out that linking Gatwick to Changi airport will provide extensive travel options, not just to Singapore but also across Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, offering passengers access to diverse destinations and travel opportunities.

This expansion aligns with Singapore Airlines' commitment to offering travelers exceptional services and a broad network of routes. The airline's decision to introduce this route reflects the growing demand for travel to and from the UK, particularly to key destinations in Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific region. The increased frequency of flights will likely serve both business and leisure travelers, facilitating smoother and more convenient travel experiences.
