Singapore emerged as the top destination for business travelers in the Asia-Pacific region last year, surpassing Hong Kong and Bangkok, according to BCD Travel's report. Tokyo ranked fourth, followed by Kuala Lumpur, based on flight and rail data from BCD Travel. Singapore's appeal lies in its accessibility and convenience for business, with Changi Airport's 2023 passenger volume reaching 86% of pre-pandemic levels.
The report highlights that the eight most traveled routes in the region were flights to or from Singapore. Greg O’Neil, BCD Travel’s President for Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa, and Global Network, noted that the Asia-Pacific region is expected to account for 42% of global business travel spending this year. Additionally, Singapore was recently named the second most expensive city for foreigners after Hong Kong in Mercer’s Cost of Living Survey.
