Tata Electronics has signed a strategic agreement with ASMPT Singapore to establish semiconductor assembly equipment infrastructure for its chip packaging units in Assam and Karnataka. This collaboration will focus on enhancing workforce training, advancing service engineering, and supporting automation and R&D efforts in key areas such as wirebond, flip chip, and integrated system packaging.
The partnership is crucial for Tata Electronics’ semiconductor assembly and test facilities in Vemagal, Karnataka, and Jagiroad, Assam, as it aims to boost the company’s technological capabilities. The Assam plant, with an investment of Rs 27,000 crore, is expected to be operational by next year, while the Karnataka unit will also benefit from this alliance.
In addition to infrastructure development, the collaboration emphasizes energy efficiency and sustainability, aligning with Tata Electronics’ long-term goals of promoting a greener supply chain in India’s growing semiconductor ecosystem. ASMPT will provide Tata Electronics with essential expertise and support to realize its vision of establishing a global electronics supply chain in India.
With significant investments, including Rs 1,18,000 crore towards a semiconductor fab in Gujarat and an OSAT facility in Assam, Tata Electronics is poised to generate nearly 50,000 direct and indirect jobs, cementing India’s position in the global semiconductor industry.
