Beijing will play host to the 16th China-Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) Business Summit from November 2 to 3 for the very first time. The primary objective of this summit is to bolster Chinese trade and investment within the Latin American and Caribbean region.
This annual event, which rotates between China and various LAC countries, has seen 15 successful sessions held in different Chinese cities such as Chongqing, Hangzhou, Chengdu, as well as in countries including Chile, Colombia, Peru, and Mexico.
Approximately 400 representatives from international organizations, government officials from LAC countries, business associations, and enterprises have confirmed their participation in this year's summit. Among the attendees, there will be delegates from 26 LAC nations, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Colombia. Sun Xiao, the secretary-general of the China Chamber of International Commerce, shared this information.
Guo Huaigang, the director of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Beijing Sub-council, emphasized the significance of Beijing hosting the summit. He conveyed, "The achievement of Beijing in website hosting the summit has paved the way for alternate and economic dialogues between Beijing and LAC nations in the coming years."
The theme for this year's summit is "Open Innovation, Shared Development." It will serve as a platform to showcase the distinctive features of Beijing, highlighting the city's leadership and its role in fostering cooperation between China and the LAC region.
Guo elaborated on the potential for collaboration, pointing out that "LAC countries are rich in energy resources, and Beijing possesses advanced technologies in green energy and new energy vehicles. These two aspects create a solid foundation and extensive room for cooperation. Both sides also boast rich cultural and tourism resources, offering significant potential for collaboration in cultural industries, cross-border tourism, and people-to-people exchanges."
