Top Business Travel Destinations in Asia Pacific: Singapore, China, Japan

In 2023, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Bangkok emerged as the top business travel destinations in the Asia Pacific region. According to BCD flight and rail data, Singapore stands out as a leading hub for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions, reclaiming its position as the region’s top financial center. With Changi Airport recovering to 86% of pre-pandemic passenger volumes, Singapore offers a convenient and accessible destination for business travelers across Northeast and Southeast Asia. Hong Kong follows closely as a significant business hub in APAC, while Bangkok also ranks high for business travel.

Globally, the most popular intercontinental business travel destinations include Frankfurt, London, and Amsterdam, highlighting key cities for international business engagements. BCD’s 2023 Business Travel Index indicates that APAC will play a crucial role in global business travel spending, contributing 42% of the total market share. The report notes that while domestic travel in China is strong, international travel is still recovering. For rail travel, both China and Japan offer efficient options for domestic business trips, with routes like Shanghai to Beijing and Tokyo to Osaka being popular choices. As businesses focus on sustainability, high-speed rail in China and Japan becomes a competitive alternative to air travel, offering cost-effective and environmentally friendly options.
