Via Brazil Meat Market, located at 42 Bridge Street in Manchester, New Hampshire, brings a unique Brazilian shopping experience to the Queen City. On its opening day, the store attracted a steady stream of customers eager to explore the variety of imported grocery items, chocolates, beauty products, household goods, and more. With nearly 1,000 unique Brazilian products, Via Brazil Meat Market offers a slice of Brazil to the local community.
The store's owner, Ramon Idalencio, who moved to the U.S. from Santa Catarina, Brazil, eight years ago, saw a gap in the market for Brazilian goods in Manchester. “We knew that Manchester didn’t have a Brazilian market, and we saw that demand. After some research, we decided to start here,” Idalencio said through a translator. The family-operated store offers authentic products from Brazil and beyond, including a mix of Brazilian and Japanese items. As Idalencio explains, “Manchester is very beautiful, and it’s easy to get around, compared to Boston.”
Among the store’s offerings are unique beverages like Antarctica Guaraná soda, a high-caffeine drink made from the guaraná fruit, and Ramune, a Japanese soft drink. These products reflect Brazil’s history of cultural exchange, especially with Japan, where many Japanese immigrants arrived in the early 20th century. The store also features panettone, a holiday favorite in Brazil, in various flavors such as lemon, truffle, and milk chocolate, to celebrate the upcoming festive season.
For those seeking adventurous flavors, Via Brazil Meat Market introduces regional Brazilian variations of familiar produce. In Brazil, avocados are often sweet, and corn is a popular ice cream flavor. Thanks to the store, these exciting tastes are now accessible to Granite Staters eager to explore Brazilian cuisine and culture.
