WIPO and IPOS Expand IP Training Framework for Singapore and ASEAN

On August 28, 2024, during IP Week 2024 in Singapore, WIPO Director General Daren Tang and Ms. Rena Lee, Chief Executive of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) and Chairperson of IPOS International, signed a new agreement to enhance intellectual property (IP) training. This agreement establishes a framework to build IP capacities among businesses and professionals through the WIPO Academy’s Executive Training Program.

The partnership underscores a shared commitment to delivering impactful IP training and skill-building tailored to the needs of innovation actors in Singapore, ASEAN, and beyond. The agreement aligns with the Singapore IP Strategy 2030, focusing on cultivating an IA/IP-savvy workforce. By combining the expertise of WIPO Academy and IPOS International, the collaboration aims to offer advanced learning opportunities that turn new ideas into tangible products and services.

This memorandum of understanding highlights the dedication to fostering a global environment where IP is central to innovation and progress. Through this collaboration, Singapore aims to stay at the forefront of IP education and practices, contributing to the development of an international cadre of IP leaders ready to excel in a dynamic global marketplace.
